Frontend Developer and UI Designer from the Washington DC Area
Kirk Radish is a Frontend Developer with roots in Graphic and Interactive Design. He has a strong eye and practice for fundamentals. Part of his rattled off history would include things like logos, typography, layouts/grid systems, motion graphics/animation and sound, video editing, and of course, web development (from way back in the days of Flash). He tooled around with all of these things and more back in art school. After leaving the Gulf Coast beaches and moving to the cities (whichever would take him) he settled in Washington DC and finally realized print is dead (Is it really, though?) and the world wide web is thriving.
As a self-taught developer, he has to know it all, in no time flat. He's all over the place in his studies. The foundations: HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript (bread and butter). But also pushes to understand much more to make additional learning easy. Libraries and frameworks. AWS EC2 instances. PHP and MySQL to see how databases work. Build tools like Grunt, Gulp and NPM. Docker containers. His switch to development has brought him from HTML emails and WordPress sites to a full-on React application. Some of this might all be worth it in the end! (right?).
So what's he thinking next? Servers? Cloud computing? AI/ML? Starting a business? Adding another letter to the next FAANG? Making it big in the stock market and giving it all up for an endless amount of conch fritters and hot wings? One thing at a time.
